Lieutenant Commander Earle Caffrey Schneider, USN, was the Commanding Officer of the USS Dorado (SS-248).

The USS Dorado got underway on October 6, 1943, from the Submarine Base at New London, Connecticut, and failed to arrive at Colon, Panama.  The Navy on October 24, 1943, declared the USS Dorado as overdue, and presumed lost with all hands.
