Torpedoman’s Mate First Class Lee Louis Newton Reid, USNR, was a member of the crew of the Reuben James I (DD-245).

The Reuben James on convoy escort duty in the North Atlantic, was hit by a torpedo on October 31, 1941, from a German U-boat and sunk.  It was the first United States Navy ship sunk by enemy action during World War II.

The Crew of the Reuben James is the most comprehensive account written to date about the life and times of the members of the crew.
