William S. Pierson
Corporal William S. Pierson was wounded in action on July 21, 1861, at the Battle of First Manassas (First Bull Run) in the Civil War. He was captured by Confederate soldiers. Corporal Pierson died of wounds on August 18, 1861, at the hospital in Richmond, Virginia while a prisoner of war.
He was a member of Company B, First Minnesota Regiment Volunteer Infantry.
